Soaked them in water first, then cleaned the trunks with an old toothbrush, as the parent tree was heavily infected with scale insects.

 

Planted into moist coarse sand and kept in bathroom for a humid environment. The coke bottle is used to cover the middle container for increased local humidity, while the other 2 are covered by a plastic packet loosely placed over them.

All of them - either dried up or rotted.
